Principal's Newsletter 10/2/11

The Brand New* (Again) Fall Carnival was a hoot. Such a wonderful community event, and impeccably planned, as always. I got a bit wet, but the dunk tank crew was kind and blessed me with warm water. Once again, props to our fabulous PTC who, last week, brought us anti-bullying crusader and author Trudy Ludwig.

This Wednesday is Walk/Bike/Bus to School Day. I'd like to encourage everybody to participate as they are able. On Wednesday morning we will tabulate which grade level had the most participants and that class will receive a (TBD) age-appropriate activity-based reward.

Don't forget that Friday is a half day for students.

Likewise, Teen Read Week is approaching, and the West Linn library is rolling out some incredibly talented authors on Friday evening. Check it out.

Friday, October 7, 6:30 p.m.
Rain Boots Required YA Author Tour
In celebration of Teen Read Week, the library is hosting a panel of 5 (yes, 5!) authors of books for middle- and high-schoolers. After their presentations there will be a Q & A session, a book giveaway and signing. Books will be available for sale.

Stacey Wallace Benefiel--YA voice/ believable dialogue
Angela Carlie--the importance of place
Lisa Nowak--life experience as research
Rebecca Knight--writing flawed fantasy characters
Laura Elliot--TBA
Parental sign-in / sign-out required
